POST SCRIPT
This Post Script was added in August 2009. The two projects mentioned in the previous page were completed in 2007 and 2008, but not in the manner originally anticipated. The pipe organ using direct electric action was certainly completed as planned, to the complete delight of the customer, but the other project underwent a total change in direction when that customer, a close friend, heard my demonstration of a “virtual organ” (using a MIDI keyboard and a computer to produce excellent organ sounds), and chose to abandon his home pipe organ project in favour of a virtual organ of two manuals and pedals. He bought a MIDI-interface from the U.K., and a new computer, and wired up the interface to the contacts on his keyboards and stop switches. I saw to the various computer programming details. My friend could not be happier with the result.
I subsequently got interested in the Virtual Pipe Organ program known as “jOrgan”, and made the decision not to pursue my analogue project any further. It was clear to me that the future for home organs lay in computer technology.
